Timeline Installation

Augsburg Nursing Department

Made for Augsburg University’s 150th Anniversary celebrations, this piece is inspired by the Augsburg Nursing Department’s interest in learning a person’s story as a first step towards better patient care.

As seen in the finished panel left below, each of the thirteen year-panels is made of four layers of hand-painted glass. These feature overlapping elements which represent the layers in the patients’ unique and diverse histories.

The decorative elements in each panel represent different values of the program, including: community (linked chain); trust-based relationships (circle within circle); culturally diverse patients (series of organic rectangles); and the partnership between the students, program, and community (triangle).

For this project, I designed the project digitally, then cut the glass, painted the layers, and framed the panels by hand.
